J.R.R Tolkien

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an English writer, poet and university professor well known as the author of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion. He served in World War I for the British. He was the Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo Saxon at Pembroke College and Merton Professor of English Language and Literature at Merton College. Tolkien was appointed a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II on the 28th of March 1972. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books were based on poems, fictional histories, inverted languages and literary essays about a fantasy world called Middle-Earth. Following there series he applied the term legendarium to the larger part of his writing. This caused Tolkien to be popularly known as the father of modern fantasy literature. In 2008 ‘The Times’ ranked him sixth on a list of ‘The 50 greatest British writer since 1945.’ Tolkien died 2nd of September 1973 age 81 Bournement, England, UK. Tolkien was born on the 3rd of January 1892 in Bournement. Tolkien had one sibling, his younger brother, Hilary Arther Reuel. As a child, Tolkien was bitten by a large baboon spider in the garden. His father died in South Africa of rheumatic fever. In later years Tolkien was inspired by his Aunt Jane’s farm of Bag End, the name was used in his books.



Birds are one of the millions of animals that roam this planet.


There are hundreds of birds that live on this earth. Some of them live in cities and woodlands. Some live in rainforests, grasslands and mountains. Some birds even live in deserts, seas and polar regions like penguins.


Birds eat many diffrent things. Some birds eat insects like the Pileated Woodpeaker. Some birds eat fish and worms like penguins and pidgions. Some birds even eat berriers like the Toco Tocan. Seagulls can eat seeds and can also swipe your chips.


Birds come in all shapes and sizes. But most birds have the basic feathers and beak. Some birds like hawks and egales have talons and good eye sight. All Birds have toes, legs, wings except for penguins which has fins.


Each birs had a diffrent was of hunting. Hawks and egales have good eye sight so they can see prey from above. Some birds trap their prey in their feet or just peaking worms out of the ground with their beaks. Some birds dive underwater and catch fish with their beaks.


Birds make their nests out of a lot of things. The main picture for nests is sticks but some nests can be made out of mould, tin foil, grass, string and other shinny things. Some birds are very territorial about their nests. Magpies are most common known for swooping people when near their nests.

There are over 5 million types of birds.

Wednesday- Wednesday was also a normal day. Math, Religion, Literacy, Daily 3, Big Idea

Thursday- Thursday was also a normal day. Math, Religion, Literacy, Daily 3, Big Idea

Friday- Hasn’t been Friday yet.

Weekly Reflection

Monday- Monday was a normal day. Nothing interesting happened, it was just a normal day of school. Math and Litracy were the same and Religion, Big Idea and Daily 3 were the same.

Tuesday- I was away sick on Tuesday.

Wednesday- Wednesday was the same as the other days. Math, Religion, Snack, Litracy, Daily 3, Lunch, Big Idea, HOME. That was the same day as Monday.

Thursday- Now Thursday was Specalist.( Specalist is a day were all 5 classes do diffrent activities.) First I did Schoolebraty Apprentice. I don’t like talking about that. Not my favourite subjects. Then we did Drama which was preety fun, but I’m not an actor kind of person. Then we had Snack. After snack was Indonesian. After that was my favourite subject. Art. After was Lunch. For our last activity we did Sport. We played this really fun game with a foam bat and it was basically soccer with bats.

Friday- Friday we did Math and Litracy. After snack the year 6’s left for interschool sports. I played softball. I’m preety sure we won. What the year 5’s did, only they know. That was all of Friday.

Weekly Reflection

This week was like a normal week but diffrent. On Friday we were ment to do inter school sports but it was canceled for reasons unknown. So we just did diffrent activities that day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were the normal Math and Litray. We aslo started our new Big Idea. We are doing Australian History. I am doing it with Mitchell. We are doing World War II. And that is the week.

In Math my partner Finn and I have been learning about percentages. We have learnt alot of things about percentages since we started. We have used other percentage skills to work out harder sums and using division to also help us and multiplucation to help me. We have figured out 10%, 20%, 25%, 63%, 70%. 38% and many more percentages. Our task was to complete a catlogue and I completed mine and it looks really good. We have shown working out on out page and shown what percent was taken off and how much was it. Here are some pictures.
